For more than a decade, Debbie Halvorson has been a public official committed to serving the people, and we foresee that dedication continuing as the U.S. representative for the 11th Congressional District.
Halvorson, a Democrat, is running against Republican Marty Ozinga and Green Party candidate Jason Wallace.
Halvorson has worked hard for women's issues, as well as matters that are important to the elderly. She drafted legislation to protect senior citizens checking into nursing homes and also sponsored a bill that offered seniors and those with disabilities access to cheaper prescription drugs.
With a likely Democrat majority in Congress, Halvorson should be able to see the interests of the people in her district given more prominence. And that focus could be heightened dramatically if Barack Obama, a former colleague of Halvorson, becomes president...
